Knee Overview

Philosophy: Although I am a board certified knee surgical specialist I endeavor to treat all patients “conservatively” without surgery whenever possible

KNEE PAIN: is most commonly caused by patellar inflammation, arthritis or meniscal tear. We are experts in diagnosing and treating the problem whatever the cause, usually without surgery

KNEE INSTABILITY: is often caused by ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) insufficiency but may also be caused by pain from arthritis or patellar inflammation

PRP-STEM CELL TREATMENT: We specialize in PRP (platelet rich plasma) and stem cell injection and have excellent results in most patients using this non-invasive treatment. We are often able to successfully use this treatment for patients who have had surgery recommended elsewhere, or failed surgery elsewhere. With thousands of injections performed we are one of the most experienced Orthopaedic centers in the world in the use of this treatment.

SURGERY: When surgery is necessary I provide a high level of expertise born of over 30 years of specialization and fellowship training at Harvard/MGH. I limit my surgical practice to restorative surgery of the knee and shoulder because specialization allows maximum focus and is associated with generally better results in many studies. Many of my cases are complex or have failed treatment elsewhere.

ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament: With some of the best results in the surgical literature for ACL reconstruction and as editor of the standard worldwide textbook on the ACL we provide world class expertise in the treatment of ACL insufficiency.
