I write frequently of the deleterious effects of cortisone. Now this study from Sophia a Traven et al from the medical university of South Carolina shows another risk. The risk of repeat surgery was worse the closer the injection was to the surgery. This again points out the downside of using cortisone as a pre-surgical form of “conservative” treatment and further validates my own decision making process in not doing so.
