Hip & Knee Replacement
When a knee or hip joint has been damaged to the point that it causes severe pain and cannot be restored to a functional level, it can be replaced with an artificial joint that can restore much of the function and decrease or eliminate pain. The artificial joints can be made of plastic, ceramic and/or metal. There are many different types of artifical joints. In general, the newer artificial joints offer improved function and increased durability.
